CHOOSING RIGHT DOMAIN
FOR LAW FIRM &
VALUE OF HAVING KEYWORDS IN YOUR DOMAIN NAME
When choosing a domain
name for your law practice, its important to consider having certain
important keywords that relate to your practice in the domain name.
Google and other search engines will rank your site higher for that
particular keyword. For example, if your site is Chicago Probate.com,
there is a very good chance you will rank in the top 5 for the search
of Chicago Probate. Sometimes that will be the only thing you will
rank for, especially if your legal website is not optimized for the
search engines, but this shows that there is value in having a domain
name that has your main keywords in it versus having a generic
domain of initials and the word law.
It usually will make
sense to own multiple domain names. Some attorneys will have a
unique site for each of their firm's main practice areas to give
them a competitive advantage. For Example,
you have your firm's main site domain name be SmithJones.com
then you create different smaller or what I call "mini sites" for 2
or 3 of the firms practice areas, such as chicago tax lawyers.com and chicago estate lawyers.com
(Always go with .COM when possible).
